With the tools of API interface of Solidworks system, VC++6. 0 program, an information management and movement simulation system of the crossbow is developed under the Windows 2000 professional.Based on the analysis and generalization of rear works of the crossbows, identification characteristics of crossbow and its parts are withdrawn and the basic information database is built up relevantly, which is the foundation of the succeeding work.Using modern mechanical design method, the crossbow is analyzed in the fields of mechanism constitution, movement principle, movement scope of movable parts and applied forces etc. According to the relative parameters which affect mechanism performance of crossbow, the information database is expanded. At the same time, relative program modules are developed, and the functions such as input, query and delete are also realized on it.In terms of the information of the database, 3D solid models of crossbow are built up .3D models assembly and movement demonstration are also realized with the programs.The dissertation has remarkable reference value whether for the study of Chinese ancient mechanical design and manufacturing or for the understanding of the brilliant science and technology of ancient China. It also provides technological support for modern archaeological work.
