| For building highways in soft soil areas, the deformation and stability of roadbeds are the most important. Geotechnical engineers should pay attention to not only the settlement deformation of the roadbed, but also the lateral deformation of that and adjacent piles & soil. In actual projects, for instance, the bridge approaches of highways, the road embankments of that overloading cause the soil layers' lateral displacements and adjacent foundations' horizontal deviations. It'll lead to the failure of the structures and traffic accidents. Therefore, to the lateral deformation effects on the highway soft soil roadbeds in the North Jiangsu's coastal areas, it's discussed in this paper.Firstly, now available theories of soil lateral deformation, test results and calculating ways are summarized. The effect factors of the soft soil roadbed and test techniques of that are also studied.Secondly, the soft soil model and soft soil squirming model are introduced concisely. By indoor tri-axes tests, the typical soft soil in the North Jiangsu's coastal areas, and mixing it into sand & the industry discarding phosphorus-gypsum as highway roadbeds' replaced soil, their lateral deformation parameters and characteristics are researched.Thirdly, to road embankment heaped load causing adjacent piles and soil's deformations, are discussed in detail with the two-dimensional elastic-plastic finite elements procedure. The geometrical conditions of piles, the behavior of soil, loadings and binding conditions at the top of piles are stressed.Fourthly, listing the conventional disposal ways of the soft soil and real results of reducing the lateral deformations, then with the FEM, the deferent soil layers' enforced ways and the effects on the adjacent piles and soil are introduced in this paper. Finally, combining a highway's lateral deformation surveying in the North Jiangsu, some questions that should be further studied are provided in the thesis. |
