For the calculation of steel gate, there are two methods in the present steel Gate Design Specification-the plane system method and the space system method, now the plane system method was usually used in the structure calculation of gate , this causes the result that the value of calculation are larger than that of actual survey by 20~40% at many parts~[12][13] ,but it may be smaller at the key position Especially for the deep-hole radial steel gate ,for it is a kind of structure with strong space effect, which makes the results of space calculation of the key position larger than that of the plane calculation .hence it is dangerous for the whole structure.Therefore,It is necessary to analyse the atress characteristic of the gate especially for the deep-hole radial gate .the atress characteristicand and the feeble component should be made clear ,and then improve calculation method ,make full of the hosistic working characteristic.the safety of the gate's holistic degree can be improved with a little material.The problems involved in the plane design theory of the deep-hole gate are studies and discussed in this thesis, through analysing the outcome of the project-The 3-D Finite Element analysis of the middle-hole and bottom-hole gate in Xiao Wan power staion,which are done by Hohai University and Kunming Hydroelectric Investigation Design and Research Institute, provide the warranty for the reasonable appraisement of the middle-hole and bottom-hole gate in Xiao Wan power staion.Towards the engineering example of middle-hole radial gate of Xiao Wan project ,the actual plane system method and the double-direction plane main frame structure calculation method are used to calculate .compare the results of the two kinds of plane system methods with the result of the Finite Element .by means of analysing the excellence and defect of the plane system method in the present Gate Design Standard , the solution and its calculational formulas are brought forward especially some corresponding measures are advanced for deep-hole radial gate,which improved the design scheme of the gate .Through the analysis,the calculation productions of the double-direction plane main frame structure are reasonable and comprehensive than that of the main horizontal beam frame structure and the main vertical beam frame structure of the actual gate's design regulation.therefore ,the double-direction plane main frame structure calculation method is recommended to employ in the design of the deep-hole radial gate . Through analysing the gate arm's result of the plane system method and the result of the Finite Element of the middle-hole radial gate of Xiao Wan,it can be obtained that the maximal stress is not coherent ,and the region of the biggish stress is not coherent also .therefore it is not enough reasonable to adopt the plane system method of gate arm of the middle-hole radial gate of Xiao Wan.
