The filling up of reservoir is one global problem, which on one hand causes the safety problem and decreases the reservoir profits, on the other hand exists as one threat to the life and property in the downstream. Therefore,the deep research on the relative subjects become even more important for the experts who study on sand.Based on the balance of sediment and the relation of sediment liner storage-draft in the river reach , the paper utilizes the similarity of high silt-carrying flow and open-channel flow by using Muskingum method about channel flood calculating and establishes the channel water and sand coupled model. Taking density current total flow as tube of flow, the river bed and the interface of density current fluid and reservoir water body as boundary condition, in which the tube of flow reach is considered as controlling unit, what' s more , the relation of continuity, diffusion and motionon the controlling unit are analyzed and comes out the result of density current total flow difference model. With the characteristics of reservoir density current in consideration , the reservoir operation is carried out under the principle of water and sediment uniting operation, which can desilt the reservoir to the most extent, increase the reservoir economic benefit and prolong the reservoir life as well as satisfying the principle of reservoir operation.
