High Temperature Superconducting Device(HTSD) is an important research field of superconducting technology applied in power, and electromagnetic field analysis and optimization is groundwork of HTSD design and application. The superconducting characteristic of high temperature superconductor material have to be considered when the magnetic field is analyzed, namely the characteristic of critical current and magnetic field. The scholar of superconducting research generally start from electromagnetic field characteristic, try to improve the critical current of superconductor, create a new path for HTSD engineering application. The specialty, economical advantage and development perspective of HTSD were discussed in this paper, also the application of computational electromagnetics in engineering was introduced, and the classical electromagnetic theory was used to analyze the magnetic field calculation of superconductor solenoid coil.Based on the magnetic field analysis of axial symmetrical coil, the analytical field calculation of helical coils was deduced in detail, providing mathematical model and numerical calculation method for the magnetic field analysis of HTSD with helical structure.With the foundation of magnetic field analysis of helical coil, the helical model was applied to analyze the magnetic field of high temperature superconductor(HTS) cable with multi-layered helical frame. Then the current distribution theory and equivalent circuit model were presented. The electromagnetic parameters and current distribution ratio were calculated according to typical physical parameters of HTS cable, therefore supporting the theory of reducing the AC loss of HTS cable.The pitch adjusted technique was put forward to design HTS electromagnetic parameters, proving reference parameters for the practical design and production of HTS cable.Base on the previous research of Virial theorem and Genetic algorithm by the scholars domestic and abroad, some conclusion of virial theorem can be used to optimize SMES(superconductor magnetic energy system)coils; Genetic algorithm toolbox of MATLAB was programmed to optimize the HTS magnetic shape. And the finite element analysis software ANSYS was used to analyze the magnetic field distribution of superconductor solenoid coil and superconductor transformer, the visual figure interface and command stream were generated for convenience, so ANSYS becomes an important and effective aid analysis tool in engineering electromagnetic field.
