A New Type Of Structural Health Monitoring Method

The key issue of the Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is the implement of the watching system and the confirmation of the position and degree of damage. The methods of the damage confirmation can be classified into two main approaches: local damage confirmation and integrated damage confirmation. Many integrated damage confirmation methods have different emphases on the data collection and method of data processing. The main methods are Dynamical Fingerprint Analysis Method, Model Modify Method and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Method. The Model Modify Method is simple because it dispenses with theories and calculation, and the result can be seen directly. But because the numbers of required input parameters are much more than provided in practice, the precision the this method is low after the predigest ion. The Artificial Neural Network Method can work without this kind of data, but the data required for training are not easily obtained.The basic concept and theories of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), the method of damage identifies and health monitoring in common use are introduced first. Model Modify Method and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Method are discussed.A new health monitoring method named "ANN based Model Modify Method" is advanced based on the analysis and contrast on the two method discussed forward. After introduce the concept of this method, the detail process are introduced.In order to validate the method, a testing system has been made. Via using the combination of ANSYS and MATLAB tools, the system formed a complete testing system. Then a testing Model has been established and the feasibility and veracity are validated.
