Acoustic problems in ballroom mainly consist of three aspects: the control of the noise, the design of the timbre and the design of the sound reinforcement system. This paper is just to deal with how to resolve these three problems. In order to protect the exterior environment not to be disturbed by the noise produced in ballrooms, the author did careful research on from urban planning to building technology. 50-metre is put forward for the first time in this thesis as the nearest distance between the ballroom and the residential area. It is pointed out that different functions can be made use of in architectural design to avoid the influence of the noise brought by ballrooms. On building technology, this paper introduces the management on the windows and the doors that are dotty taches in sound insulation. "Intermittent ventilation" through windows of ballrooms is suggested in this thesis. As for the interior noise control, the author analyses in two different aspects, corresponding methods are given after the analysis. In the field of acoustical design, started with the shapes of ballrooms, the paper dissertates different kinds of plane forms and gives some useful advice to the architect. Based on these, the paper continued its discussions on reverberation time, sound absorption and sound insulation. At last a method of sound absorption by using the software EXCEL is introduced.Sound reinforcement system is indispensable in ballrooms. The thesis mentions sound reinforcement equipments which commonly used in ballrooms and dwells on some problems in the use of sound reinforcement system, especially on how to place the loudspeakers. The categories and the tendencies of ballrooms are mentioned separately in the first chapter and the last one.
