| This paper is a part of the scientific research project of the Ministry of Communications "the research of the expansive soil slope stability calculatingmodel about towed space-time effect"-----a sub project of "a complete set oftechnical research to construct highway in expansive soil areas " . The project is entrusted by Changsha University of Science & Technology.This paper has a purpose that using FLAC to analyse the stability of expansive soil in Guangxi Ningming area. The first part talks about the current research situation of the analyse of the expansive soil slope stability and some various kinds of appraisal analytical methods of the expansive soil slope at present; According to the data of the site inspection, summarizing the expansive slope sliding mechanism of Guangxi Ningming area; setting up an expansive soil slope geological model and simplified calculation model which are suitable to the geological condition of Ningming area.The second part of the text leads into FLAC procedure-----an advancedgeotectonic engineering calculation software, introduces the basic order suitable to both FLAC2D and FLAC3D ,and basic characteristic , operation method of FLAC3D , furthermore, uses FLAC3D to analyse and calculate the stability of the expansive soil slope in Guangxi Ningming area. The result indicates, it is feasible to adopt FLAC procedure to calculate the slope stability, and compared with other calculating technologies ,FLAC procedure has simple programming, convenient forengineers and technicians to grasp and on-the-spot application, can solve the problem of great displacement , the aftertreatment is powerful, can reflect such advantages as the effect characteristic of towed slipping , space-time of the expensive slope ,etc. it is a kind of good method of geotectonic engineering calculation.
