The detection of motility and economical efficiency of motor vehicles is an important step to ensure stability, dependability and security. It is also the most important measure of keeping good working performance before and after leaving the factory.In this article we focus on developing a kind of portable intelligent detecting system based on virtual instrument. At present, the detection instruments of this kind are mainly made of micro controller with LED display panel, with poor functionality, weak power of data processing, more complexity of programming, less scalability of system functions and less friendship of the user interface.So, it is very necessary to develop a kind of more powerful general-purpose intelligent motor vehicle detecting system, with high dependability, precision, programmability and more extendibility.The kernel component of this system is a combination of the supra computer (a notepad computer) and the infra computer (MSP 430 MCU). With the assistances of multi-way sensors and detection software, it can collect data of motility and economical efficiency of motor vehicles, and give out the result in forms of data or graphics.To improve the detection precision, we adopt an intermediate frequency variation none-contact velocity censor and a Gray-coded oil consumption censor (which two were also designed and produced by our team members).To improve the ability of anti-jamming, stability and precision in data processing, we utilized the technique of numeric filter and regress algorithm in our software.
