In this paper the basic theory of faults diagnosis on-line of automobile electronic-controlled system is briefly introduced. For particularity and complexity of faults diagnosis on-line of automobile electronic-controlled system and in face of huge information and the information kinds with the features of randomness, vagueness and sudden change at the course of faults diagnosis on-line, it is necessary to introduce information fusion technology into the field of faults diagnosis on-line of automobile electronic-controlled system. The paper summarizes general structure of information fusion, sets forth its basic principle, presents its generic framework. It also emphasizes on the methods of information fusion, viz. the fault diagnosis identification framework of Dempster-Shafer evidence theory, the establishment of mass function, the building of diagnosis decision rules, etc. These researches offer theoretical basis and algorithm for information fusion application in automobile electronic-controlled system diagnosis field. In addition, on the basis of ABS's basic structure, working principle, layout and control method, the fault diagnosis system of ABS is designed, including hardware circuit design and software development, which has achieved its all function and been tested in the practice.
