The thesis mainly researches on inductive displacement sensor for AMB. Based on the theory of mutual inductive sensor, the characteristic of AMB and the requirements of sensor for AMB, LVDT displacement sensor is designed and manufactured and its measure circuit is accomplished using LVDT signal conditioner AD598. In order to experiment on the designed sensor, the static test rig and dynamic test rig for the sensor are manufactured. During the study in the static state,. several groups of experiments have been done on the important factors, which will effect the performance of the sensor, such as the winding, the material of the rotor, the air-gap length, excitation voltage, excitation frequency. The conclusions deduce some schemes that are in favor of the optimized design of the sensor. The results of the study in the static state, indicate the measuring range, linearity and sensitivity of the sensor are preferable. The designed sensor is also tested in dynamic state, and the results indicate the dynamic characteristic of the sensor is all right. Additionally, the work of the thesis has made some theoretical and experimental preparations for study on sensorless AMB. And the designed sensor can also be used to measure some other types of linear displacement or rotation angle.
