Vehicle monitor system can regulate traffic, relieve congest, improve efficiency and road security, so it has important value in reality. The system receives vehicles position information by its GPS system in vehicles. Wireless communication adopts the short message service of GSM and network wireless call service.This thesis introduces the design of a C51-based vehicular controller with a GPS (Global Positioning System) module and a GSM module. The Process of developing firmware for this set is also mentioned. From hardware to software and work principle of this set, the paper gives a unitary explanation. On the following combining with one of the main jobs of this paper, design and realization of this vehicular controller, detailed analysis and optimizing is made about the realization on the fixed C51 of short message transmission. In order to improve set capability, the paper gives some references to the choice of hardware module, and in the end, analyses the feasibility and actual effect of this vehicular controller system.The design of vehicular controller is the primary content in this paper which is based on developing of GPS/GSM supervising and dispatching system for vehicle. The vehicular controller's principle features and hierarchy are discussed in detail, and the communication of the vehicular controller and supervise center is introduced emphatically.There are 6 chapters in this paper, as follows:Chapter 1 introduces briefly the significance of GPS/GSM supervising and dispatching system for vehicles, the immediate development at home and abroad and the system basic structure.Chapter 2 discusses positioning principle and communication principle between the vehicular-locating set and supervise center.Chapter 3 puts forward the structure of the vehicular controller and offered a concrete implementation method of the set.Chapter 4 introduces emphatically AT command of GSM Module and the communication protocols of the system. Furthermore the procedure is programmed.Chapter 5 puts forward the analysis of the vehicular controller's capabilities and methods of improvement.
