With the changing of people's life and working style and increasing consciousness of importance of building interior environment, people pay more attention to the issue of building interior environment quality. According to the knowledge of human body's respiratory system and the air quality reports of hundreds of Chinese cities, PM10 is one of the contaminations which deteriorate Chinese cities' atmosphere quality and building interior environment quality mostly. So the Chinese government has come on a series of air quality-related criterions which limit the values of all sorts of atmosphere contaminations. The emended national code for design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (GB50019-2003) requests the admissible PM10 concentration should be under 0.15mg/m3. Because the existing air conditioning system has no the function section to purify the particle at all or the air purifying system is so simple that can not work, well, the purifying performance to particles, such as PM10, should be studied. The study work about how to appraise the filtration material's purifying performance to PM10 has almost not begun and much creative work needs to be developed urgently . So this paper will carry on the study timely and pertinently.By using the TSI8520 DustTrak? Aerosol Monitor and TSI8551 Q-Trak Indoor Air Quality Monitor, the outdoor air quality of some Shanghai public has been sampled . The sampling items include PM10, PM2.5, PM1.0, CO, CO2. By adopting logarithm normal distribution, the result of the data processing shows that PM10 is one of the contaminations which deteriorate Chinese cities' atmosphere quality and building interior environment quality mostly.According the request of the code, a test-bed with TSI8520 DustTrak? Aerosol Monitor and DP 1000-11 pressure gauge has been designed which can test the filtration material's purifying performance to PM10, PM2.5, PM1.0. And by using the test-bed, the author has tested many air conditioning filtration material's purifying performance to PM10 PM2.5 and PM1.0, then picked up the better material from them.By the experimentation, the relations between the purifying performance and the filtrating speed, the filling degree, the particle dimension and the fibre diameter have been found out. The experimentation result shows that electret filtration material has better purifying performance with high efficiency and low resistance. Using French chalk which was dried under 120℃ temperature about one day, the quantity which the electret filtration material contains particle has been tested. What's more, the relation between dust-containing capability and the filling degree has been made certain.Taking the attenuation characteristic and application spot of electret filtration material into account, the filtration material was dipped in isopropanol solution before experimentation, according to European standard-EN779. After dipped, the purifying efficiency decreases a lot, only comes up to the level of ordinary filtration materials. Although the purifying performance is fine, electret filtration material should not be adopted in the spots where polarity molecules exist richly.In order to popularize the use of electret filtration material, the project choice among different kinds of the materials must be considered. Adopting analytic hierarchy process, analyzing six aspects including efficiency, flux, resistance, dust-containing capability, attenuation and price, it's certain that the filtration material of 250g/m2 has the best techno- economy characteristic.For practicably use, basing on the experimentation results, the opinions have been brought forward about filtration materials choosing which are adopted to control PM10 concentration. Referring to practicable nation standards and according to filtration efficiency to PM10, PM2.5 and PM1.0, the filtration materials are graded into four classes.
