The advanced software developing mode is valuable in improving the reliability and maintainability of the software.This paper analyses the shortage of traditional text developing mode,and brings forward a new developing mode based on the graphic oriented programming technique. The paper illuminates the implemented process of graphic oriented programming technique and its effect in improving the reliability and maintainability of the software.The protective relay for middle voltage lines are widely used in electric power system. This article analyses the status quo of such type relays,and points out that the integration of the advanced software & hardware platform with ripe principles ang schemes is the device developing characteristic. The paper analyses the software and hardware demands of the protective device of the middle voltage lines, based of this,adopts 32-bits microprocess and graphic oriented programming technique to design a protective device for the middle voltage lines.The paper introduce the design scheme and dynamic simulation experiment result.via the experiment data, The paper demonstrate the feasibility of developing the middle voltage line protection via graphic oriented programming technique.
