With the rapid development of the high-rise building, the power supply for buildings has been one of the most important components in the whole construction. The reliability and security of emergency powers supply have a direct effect on the safety of the whole system. This paper focuses on the valve lead-acid batterise, which have been widely applied as emergency power. The battery is always failure because of the design or technology limitation and absence of routine maintenance. The battery management system has been designed for strengthen stabilization of system, which could also find the invalid cell in time. This paper focuses on the aspects of batteries charging and discharging, the chemical truth, dwells on the problems in the practice and conoludes the main causes, which shorten the service life of the battery and make it invalid. The on-line monitoring system for VRLA is developed through the analysis of its failure mechanism and the comparison of the characteristic valve of its charge/discharge curves. The system with full functions had been designed, which include control unit, testing unit, and other parts. The system possesses strong expandability, which could be used in power system, communication power source, etc. Moreover, monitor/control module software and centralized management software for computers have been programmed, hi the paper, a simple and feasible method of failure prediction, The Grey System, is presented, as well as the result of the emulation experiment, and the system is proved to be stability.
