With the development of finite element method (FEM), the analysis on reinforced concrete members is deeply studied, and it is increasingly regarded in engineering field. Since the limitation of mesh generation, it's application and popularization are restricted. With the appearance of meshless method (MLM), a way of numerical analysis on concrete is worked out.This paper studies the present development and basic theory of MLM, along with the study, the coupled meshless-finite element(ML-FE) method and it's application to reinforced concrete members analysis are researched; At the same time,the coupled ML-FE method which is suitable to the reinforced concrete material is proposed. The two different materials-steel bar and concrete are coupled separately by MLM and FEM. The corresponding program by MATLAB language is carried out with an example. By comparing the results with that of FEM, the results show that the coupled method in structure numerical analysis and application to different materials is workable. For the treatment of steel bar in concrete, the local dispersion model is proposed, with the model steel bar is dispersed in a local field and the whole member is analyzed by MLM. The results of the model are compared with those of the coupled ML-FE method, and prove the validity of the coupled ML-FE method again.The coupled ML-FE method and its achievements proposed in this paper are helpful to the further development and research of MLM.
