The natural gas is more regarded because it is low contaminative, low-cost and reasonable resource configuration. So the compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles become more popular. The research work for the three-way catalysts (TWC) of CNG vehicles is still in the primary phase.The TWC for petrolic vehicles is not fit for CNG vehicles. The exhaust pollution of vehicles to environment will be further decreased by investigating to the purification characteristics of TWC in CNG vehicles.In this paper, the structure, component and function of TWC, the catalytic reaction mechanism and the macroscopical kinetics in reaction process are discussed in detail. A kind of new TWC is optimal designed in allusion to the exhaust gas of CNG vehicles. The proportion of composition and process techniques of catalyst are put forward. The great proportion of Pd in noble metals and the content of assistant catalyst are optimal designed. The experimental equipment is established for evaluating of TWC in the CNG vehicle. The technique method of experimention is put forward. The results of investigation can offer an effectual guidance to the analysis of purification characteristics and future research of TWC.The experimental equipment of CNG vehicles has provided with a foundation for next experimental research of TWC. It has an important practical significance to the research of TWC, matching application, production attestation and quality superintendence.
