Because of its complexity, it is difficult to completely understand the characteristics of flow field of Pulsed Detonation Engine (PDE) under current experiment conditions. Thus, various numerical methods have been applied to detonation. The Space-Time CE/SE method is one of the best methods to detonation of its simple, accurate and efficiency. This dissertation is to analyze characteristics of detonation wave of PDE by the mathematic models and numerical simulation with modified CE/SE method. The main points in the dissertation are as follows:(1) In this dissertation, one- and two-dimensional models of flow field of a PDE are set up, and their controlling equations are defined as Euler equation under some hypotheses:(2) Based on the idea of Chang's space-time Conservation Element and Solution Element (CE/SE) method, a new approach of CE/SE is deduced for solving ID and 2D Euler equations on meshes and quads respectively;(3) Programs are compiled in FORTRAN to compute one- and two-dimensional flow fields of PDE;(4) varieties of pressure, temperature, density, velocities and mass fraction on detonation of propane/oxygen are analyzed;(5) Computational results of one-dimension are compared to results from the TVD method, and results of two-dimension are compared to experimental results. Results show that the wave system is complex during detonation traveling inside PDE, and the CE/SE method is indeed a simple, accurate, viable approach for unsteady detonation waves.
