With the development of district urbanization, in order to meet the needs of rapid economic growth of the city, city road, as an inportant part of city infrastructure, has seen its drmatic development in different areas in recent years. In their industrious work, city constructors have accumulated a lot of valuable construction experience. For example, they have tremendously improved productive capacity by introducing and applying new material, new craft, new technology, and new equipment, economizing the cost of engineering construction and guaranteeing the reliability of road quality. However, due to uneven social and economical development among different areas as well as different conditions of geography, geology, hydrology and climate, in the process of city road planning, designing and construction, we should implement the principle of "seek truth from facts, suit measures to local conditions, estimate our ability and act accordingly".On the basis of briefing a survey of road engineering, this essay summarizes the use and function of roadbase and roadbed, analyzes and compares the structure forms of several kinds of commonly used roadbase layers according to the specific situation of Gui Yang district, and finally proposes the structure form of embeded-type, hand-laid stone layer, which is seldom mentioned in existing national and professional standards. This essay will analyze and study the aspects of comfortableness, durability, strength, hardness of road application as well as construction, test, economical and social situation, etc. Hopefully it can provide reference for relevant scholars and road construction technicians.
