The transfer layer structure must be set on the structure-changed floor when the upright structural system or form between the lower floors and upper ones of high-rise building are quite different. The frame-supported short-leg shear wall structure is formed when the upper structure is short-leg shear wall and the lower is framed structure. The frame-supported short-leg shear wall structure has been used widely in the south of China. However, the theoretic research of this structure needs to be perfected, including the load-bearing of the transfer beams under upright loads, because its upper structural plane is very complex. And the Chinese design codes still haven't explicit regulations about the calculation of the transfer beam.As far as the transfer beams of high-rise building, the most characteristic feature is the load-bearing regularity under upright loads. This thesis is concerned about the FEA for the load-bearing and deformation of the transfer beam bearing upright loads in the frame-supported short-leg shear wall structure with ANSYS. The emphasis is the distribution of internal force and stress of the transfer beams of the frame-supported short-leg shear wall when they bear upright loads. Then co-operation of the upper wall-leg with the trahsfer beams of the frame-supported short-leg shear wall structures that usually appear are analyzed and discussed. Through the wall-leg is rather short and the co-operation of the upper wall-leg with the transfer beams are bad, the calculation results will contain great errors if the co-operations are ignored.ANSYS, the large general FE computation software, finds easily extensive uses in many fields, while its application in the load-bearing analysis of the transfer beams of the frame-supported short-leg shear wall is few. ANSYS is adopted to analyzed the load-bearing of 3 long-span transfer beams which are representative in practice, and the results are compared with those of SATWE in the thesis. Aconclusion is that the results of SATWE are commonly larger than those of ANSYS. So, there are still needs of supplementary FEA for the transfer beams of the frame-supported short-leg shear wall in practical design.
