With the rapid development of the national economy, the speed of the railway operation is raising continuously. So the infection of the railway noise on the environment is becoming serious and the prevention of railway noise is becoming more and more important. The high frequency vibration of the wheel is the primary source for the producing of railway noise. The railway noise problems have been paid attention by many countries in the world and some important achievements have been obtained. The noise problems are also studied in our country and the research is only in the initial stage. The main work of this thesis is on the studies of the high frequency vibration of the wheel on the basis of the work home and abroad.Firstly, the abroad and domestic researches on railway noise are described briefly. Secondly, the wheel/rail contact geometry, wheel/rail interactive forces and the wheel/rail roughness are studied. In this thesis, a wheelset finite element model with 9584 elements and 12663 nodes is set up by using the ANSYS software, and the modal shapes and dynamic responses of the different parts of the wheel are calculated. On the basis of analysis, two new low-noise wheelsets are designed and analysed.Through the research above, it can be concluded that the geometry of the spoke, the wheel-hoop and the part between the spoke and the wheel-hoop can be optimized that can reduce the vibration and the noise of the wheel. The work of this thesis can provide the theoretical base for the design of low-noise wheel for railway vehicles.
