There are two familiar methods to calculate dynamic characteristics of conventional ships: transfer matrix method and finite element method. But for a catamaran, which method is more suitable ,should be paid attention to it. In this paper, a catamaran is taken as object, its dynamic characteristics is computed by transfer matrix method and FEM respectively. According to the difference in dealing with the structure stiffness and mass, and the difference between the nature frequency acquired by these two methods, the conclusion that the results derived by transfer matrix method are bigger is given. At the same time, some beneficial suggestions are proposed when the FEM is used.Because there are obvious local vibrations, coupling between local vibrations and whole vibrations, even coupling of torsion vibrations and bending vibrations, it is hard to distinguish the whole modal shapes. A lot of accessorial methods are introduced in this paper to eliminate the local vibrations, and reduce the effects of local vibrations on discerning of the whole modal shapes. From the results we can observe an inspiring effect. |
