The thesis discusses the matching problem between free-surface mesh types and the numerical solutions to the linear free-surface condition in the time-domain motion prediction method of matching integration. To most ship forms, the fluid space outside of ship hulls can be describe more precisely by various mesh types of fitted inner edges than those of blanked ones. The thesis presents two kinds of fitted-body mesh generating methods; according to which, the difference methods are given to solve the linear free-surface condition. The numerical solution to linear free-surface condition has always be the tough problem in the prediction method. By analyzing the errors in directly differencing the free-surface condition, the reasons that influence the convergence and stabilization of calculations are be found in the paper. Then some difference equations to free-surface condition are given to smooth those difficulties preliminarily. After improving the existed prediction method, the underwater sphere and the Wigley Ship are taken for an example calculation to validate the feasibility. On the other side, the parameters that influence the numerical results will be compared and discussed in the thesis. In the end, all data and analysis will come into an conclusion.
