Structures build like a cylinder or cylinder groups are most popular today, for example, the mask of ship is widely designed like a cone-shaped cylinder in order to be invisible for the radar. With the change of shape, the strength and dynamic performance of the mask has greatly changed especially for the specially shape of the mask, the air force acting on it is quite different under different attack angles. So the research of hydrodynamic force acting on a cone-shaped rectangular cylinder has some reference value. In the research field, experiment study is the most efficient way. With the development of compute fluid dynamics, the numerical study has great evolution and the error between the result of numerical study and experiment study in some field is quite small. So in this paper, the research of hydrodynamic force acting on a cone-shaped rectangular cylinder is done by the way of experiment and numerical study. The research work are summarized as follows:(1) The experiment is performed in the towing tank with the Reynolds number from 3.19. 104 to 1.15 .106 and the angle of attack between 0 and 180' in steps of 15" under the law of Reynolds number.(2) Wall pressure distributions are investigated in this paper in the circumferential direction and in the axial direction. And we also obtain the trend that the static force changed with the attack angles and Reynolds number.(3) Under the help of power spectral density, the characters of unsteady forces, vortex forces and the fluid-structure coupling forces are studied.(4) Chose the k- e turbulence model and by the use of soft CFX, we do the numerical study of the fluid flow around the cylinder and compare theresult of the experiment and numerical study.
