With the generators of Three Gorges power station having been put into productionin succession, the situations of transmitting western power to east, exchangingelectricity between south and north and interlinking in the whole country are becomingperfect step by step, so more and more HVDC will appear in our country. Therefore, itis important both to simulate HVDC in two ways of physical and mathematic and tostudy the characteristics of steady state and transient state. On the base of investigation on the related literature of HVDC physical model andmathematic model, using of some of tools, e.g. resemble principle, control theory,MATLAB/simulink tools etc, considering the 211 project in college of electrical andengineering at the same time, this dissertation mainly researches the HVDC physicalmodel. The main works in this dissertation are as follows: (1) In order to understand the operation characteristics of HVDC, the hybridnumerical simulation of HVDC is made by using of MATLAB/simulink tools. Inaddition, this dissertation also studies characteristics of transient state and steady stateof this model by means of numerical simulation. (2) The physical simulation of HVDC primary equipments is chiefly on the basisof the method of equality between pu values in resemble principle. Some equipments,such as transmission lines, commutation transformers and filters, are analyzed,simulated and calculated separately as main parts of HVDC in this dissertation. (3) The emphasis in this dissertation is simulation of HVDC control system andHVDC physical model development. Given of the demand of scientific research and thelimits of current conditions in lab, the control system model is successfully completedby together with Xi Shu manufacture factory. These works are ready for studying onsystem actions occurred in hybrid transmission of AC-DC. a) The design ideas of level control and standby each other are put forward. b) The conFig.uration of control system model is set. c) The designs of hardware and software are completed. d) The all control functions of control system in physical model are realized. The development of HVDC physical model offers the reference gist andexperiment condition to the study of AC-DC combined transmission.
