CVT has long been the most ideal Variable Transmission people want for their cars. Carrying out a system of CVT and with the consistent regulation of speed on ratio, the CVT system can ensure the workings of the engine at a low-consumption-of-fuel level. Therefore the consumption of the fuel as well as the exhaustion of the waste gas can be greatly reduced. What's more, the CVT system can enable the cars to run smoothly and therefore make people feel more comfortably. The present research is one of the attempts to study ECU (Electronic Control Unit) which is the core of the CVT system. At the same time, the present research is also one part of the research of National Nature Science Foundation.On the basis of the working characteristics and the fundamentals of the CVT system, the author of this paper put forward a plan of carrying out the ECU system step by step with the combination of ECU and PC. ECU is just used to do the work of collecting data and carrying out the control process while the complex control laws of the CVT system are realized by PC program. Various parameters such as the primary speed of the car, water temperature, oil pressure and the real time curve of some important parameters are displayed by the PC program. In this way, we can make full use of the PC to revise the programmes and make the CVT control laws perfect. After laying down the CVT control laws, we can transfer the part of PC programmes to singlechip programmes.and therefore make the cars run without the PC.The present paper also makes a thorough description of the system control strategies. In addition, the author devises the Fuzzy controller and PID controller and compares their merits and demerits and pick out Fuzzy controller as the control system. Finally, the author also puts forward some proposals for further research.Take XiaolingYang as our CVT prototype, the prototype was manufactured and successfully equipped on the car which brand is duiker. Some matching bench test and road test has been finished. And the experiment achieves the desired results. The research project has been checked and accepted by the National Science and Technology Committee and paid high tribute by the experts.
