Bashu traditional town is the Human Settlement interacted by geographical environment and society and culture. It reflects the features of natural environment and social human backgrounds of Sichuan to some extent. It is the important part of historical and culture heritage of China. With the development of the South of China, some work is put forward to protect traditional. Illustrated by Xiaoxi, the thesis aims to find out the idea and the ways of protection for historic towns in Bashu .There are four parts in the thesis.The first part of the thesis is about my paper title selection, the area of research, some related theories of my research and proposing frame of program research.The second part of the thesis comprises chapter two and chapter three. Chapter two analyze the lay-out, space of the street, local architecture and so on .It presents all features of Xiaoxi. Based on the investigation, Chapter three summarizes the current contradiction in the protection.The third part of the thesis is the theory research and the strategy research. It concludes that the protection should be concerned with wholes rather than analysis or separation into parts. Beside this point, the protection should be on the basis of the development.The last part of the thesis researches the measure and technique of the protection from the whole of town to block to mono-architecture.In a word, this article takes Xiaoxi as research objects and analyses the actuality of Xiaoxi, in the end, builds up the theory and the methodology of preservations...
