The stability analysis of slope is a very complicated problem. It covers a great deal of engineering t fields, such as the highway and bridge engineering, the hydraulic and the constructional engineering, etc. So, the stability of slope has always been an important research topic in rock and soil engineering. In case of the steep slope from civil engineering construction building, it will lead to the collapse or slide easily, on the other hand, the flat slope will increase the earthwork of slope cutting greatly and influence the use of the close-by buildings for overstepping its limits. So, there is two kinds of problem in practice, one is how to choose the optimal transect of slope, namely, the problem of the slope stability, the other is how to reduce the workload, such as the earthwork of slope cutting, namely, the problem of benefits, And they are not incompatible. It isn't impossible to build a high quality slope with moderate costs. On the contrary, in some cases, slopes built with huge manpower and material resources show signs of unstability, and builders have to adopt all kinds of methods to reinforce it later on. Such cases occur frequently at home and abroad, it not only waste the resources but also form the vicious circle in case of severity: "engineering ?disaster ?engineering" . Therefore, the following work is carried out on lab geotechnical centrifuge model test and simulation analysis.(1) Based on the impersonal sum-up and comparision of all kinds of methods ot analysis about slope stability at present, the current research is introduced and the developing trend is discussed in brief.(2) By using the professional geotechnical software "GEO-SLOPE" , the limit equilibrium method is analyzed, some relationships aredrawn among the safety coefficient, the location of sliding surface, the strength of soil, and the groundwater table, etc.(3) The basal theories of centrifuge model test and some potential problems in it are introduced. Final results concluded from centrifuge model test of different water content and slope ratio and lab geotechnical tests are reasoned out. The safety coefficient, the picture of isoline and vectorgraph are pointed out.(4) By using the FEM software "ANSYS 7.0" and the method of strength reduction, the laws of tress and strain, the critical sliding surface, the distribution of plastic strain are taken out in addition to some other useful results.
