The Creation Of Amenity In Street Space

With the constant improvement of living standard , after meeting the basic needs , people begin to long for more than living materials , especially the respect and care for people . In this point , there are many good examples in traditional street space to study , for in those old streets people are free from interruption by modern traffic vehicles , and they always get on well with each other . So there is full of temperament and interest of life in traditional streets and humanization is especially patent there.But with the constant enlargement of cities' size , it is unavoidable that old buildings will be removed and new buildings will be built , which will result in the destruction of street space that has gone through for lots of years . Therefore it is particularly important to create " street space " with modern sense.Here the thesis aims to take the "amenity " of traditional streets for reference to play a positive role in the construction of streets in the future by analyzing humanization of traditional streets under the direction of humanization theory . In addition , taking the investigation results of Dayan ancient town in Lijiang and a case analyzing of "Protection and Development Planning of Shuhe Ancient Town " for example , this article proposes some suggestions to several problems existing in the newly built streets from the perspective of humanization .This thesis consists of 5 chapters.Chapter 1 ( introduction part ) explains such concepts as " street " and " amenity " , etc . And the purpose of this part is mainly to state the meaning of the topic as well as introduce the purpose and meaning of the paper and its research approaches .Chapter 2 mainly analyses the composing elements of street space based on a humanization theory , and also explains the " street space " in terms of humanization .Chapter 3 gives the analysis to the humanization aspect of traditional streets to reveal the tactics of traditional street to realize humanization .Chapter 4 , using the theoretical foundation of humanism , makes a concrete analysis about how streets could satisfy human beings' needs by the method of environmental psychology and environmental behavioralscience .Chapter 5 discusses the implementation of the concrete material elements in streets , which really embodies humanization of street space . These material elements include space , green , water , pavement and environmental elements and so on.
