Tandem axial flow waterjet pump is composed by taking off the stator between the two rotors of the normal two-stage axial pump, which can simplify the structure to satisfy the requirement of the platform above the water (such as the amphibious tank) which is strictly restricted by the weight and dimension of the waterjet system.This paper discusses the related technical essentials in tandem axial flow waterjet pump design including effect of preliminary impeller on secondary impeller, load distribution between two impellers, blade number selection, circulation distribution selection and calculation etc. Three tandem axial pump models are designed by lift method and analyzed them by experiments. The effect on performance by axial spacing and circumferentially deflection distance (phase angle change) is studied also.This paper and its experiments data are valuable on the design of tandem axial pump. |
