The marine diesel makers and users always concern the matter of the influence of ambient temperature on turbocharger, and what measures they should take to ensure the diesel work safely and reliably, to satisfy the requirement of the diesel. This paper analyzes the compressor's parameters, which vary with the change of ambient temperature. At first,it introduces the performance and arithmetics analysis of the compressor, then builds mathematic model for the air cooler.Secondly, the paper studies the relation between the change of compressor's working point and the change of surrounding temperature by charts, points out the change trend of its parameters and the air cooler load. It is verified by an example of S80MC.By the means of Visual Basic, the Calculation Program of the flow of the compressor and the load of the air cooler for MAN B&W is finished .In order to further verify the veracity of the conclusions,an experiment is done on diesel 6200GZC in the dockyard of Harbin. For directly making out the change of the parameters with the temperature, the data are dealt with Matlab. In the end of this chapter, the paper proposes the necessity and methods of the parameters correction, then takes the "Cosgreat Lake" ship for example. At last, according to the calculation and some related technique data, the paper discusses the necessity and the realization of the air cooler with variable flow of cooling water. This method can well develop its cooling capability and economy pump work. The obtained conclusions are useful for engineers to understand correctly the performance of the turbocharged diesel engine running at different temperature, then take right measures.
