The research on attitude determination by GPS carrier phase measurement explores a new area in GPS application.This dissertation studies the theory of GPS-based attitude determination. The feasibility of GPS-based attitude determination system is tested and the algorithm on attitude determination is deducted in detail.Based on the nature of moving ships on the sea, this study proposed the way to measure ship's attitude. Various factors which might influence the measurement's accuracy are also analyzed.The GPS carrier phase integer ambiguity solution and cycle-slip detection are the two key technologies for GPS-based attitude determination system. To shorten the time of the solution of integer ambiguity and improve its validity, the LAMBDA algorithm is introduced. The method of "Detection and Fixing of Cycle-slip Using Redundant Double Difference Observations" is applied to realize the detection and fixing of cycle-slip under dynamic conditions.Using two Motorola UT+ OEMs, this study develops a software on Ship's Attitude Determination System by Microsoft Visual C++ using Windows95/NT to realize the inspection of ship's true course and roll. Experiments are conducted to validate the system's performance.At last, some problems in theory or project which still need further studying are pointed out.
