The automation of a substation is a integrated technology of microcomputer, micro-electronics, modern communications and auto-control technique, which realizes not only the full-scale rebuilding of relaying but also the mode of communication for the traditional substation. With the development of technology for substation automation, the traditional transformer relaying can't satisfy the request because of the simple protecting function. At the same time, traditional correspondence method is too hard to attain the automation to the request for real-time. Therefore, this paper presents CANBUS technology and designs a transformer relaying unit including protecting and monitoring functions. Considering the special demand of substation's bay unit and the characteristic of CAN2.0B protocol, a high effective and reliable functional protocol is formulated to fulfill the request of real-time of system.
