In this thesis, Systemic seismic behavior static experimental research on Z-shapedsection short pier shear bracing wall models is presented. With three wall width-depthratios(5, 6.5and 8), the specimen have been designed in two ways, with concealedbracing and without, built with the 1/2 scale. All the specimen have the same parametersexcept the wall length. Main conclusions have been drawn from the experiments asbelow: With the setting of the concealed bracings in the short pier shear wall, the valuesof cracking force, yielding force and utmost force have been improved; Ductilitycoefficient of the shear wall with concealed bracing has been improved obviously,Compared with that of the common wall; cracking stiffness, stiffness of obvious yieldand the late stiffness have been improved greatly with the setting of the concealed walls.Especially, the late stiffness has good stability, which is good to earthquake resistance. The hysteresitic curve of shear wall with concealed bracing is plumper than that ofcommon walls. The energy dissipation capacity of the shear wall with concealed bracinghas been improved obviously. The failure forms of the concealed bracing shear walland the common one are different obviously. Concealed bracings have changed thedistribution and the direction of the cracks. The main cracking tends to develop towardsthe angle of the concealed bracings. The plastic junction area height of the shear wallwith concealed bracings is bigger than that without, which is the important reason whythe earthquake resistant capacity have been improved obviously. Theoretical analysis based on the experimental research has been done: Thesimplified mechanics model and the calculative formulas of the stiffness and the bearingcapacity have been established. The finite element elastic analysis models and methodhave been presented.
