Improving engine dynamic performance is one of the targets of the internal combustion engine researchers. The ways to improving engine dynamic performance are to add gas intake and to ameliorate the air flow motion and combustion in cylinder. Flow in inlet pipe directly influences the gas motion and burning in cylinder. Configuration of inlet port has a decisive influence on the gas motion in cylinder. It is essential for improving dynamic performance of engine to master and utilize the character of flow in inlet pipe.By analyzing the performance in inlet pipe ,we can find that pulse and resonance are produced in result of inlet valve's open and close and gas intake and dynamic performance can be improved if pulse and resonance are efficiently utilized . Because of the find, a lot of tests are made in single-cylinder motorcycle gasoline engine. The test result shows that if pulse and resonance are efficiently used, engine power and torque can be greatly improved and they are different in different length of intake pipe.In addition, by equipping a resonator near the cylinder top in intake port, we can find that resonator helps to improve power and torque to some extent.Compared the computing result with the experiment, they are consistent to great extent.
