With the developing of country economy, the improving of power loads isremarkable. Therefore, there are more requirements for power supply capability, power energy quantity and power supply reliability of urban networks. Moreover, thelaggard equipments and technologies of original networks have affected thedeveloping of country economy and people's living seriously. To adapt the developingof country, the reconstructions of networks are being done, as well as the developmentof evaluation of power supply capability. This work has marvelous significations notonly for the accurate evaluation and optimization of current networks, but also for theimprovement of power supply reliability and enterprises' benefits. Nowadays in power supply capability studies for urban distribution networks, some separate technical indexes are calculated to evaluate networks, such as ratio ofline loss, ratio of qualified voltage, ratio of average circuit's load and so on. But eachof these indexes can only reflect one part capability of distribution networks. Thereare no comprehensive evaluation criteria or modeling methods that are capable ofreflecting the real network capacity. To solve this problem, a novel approach is presented in this paper, which, byutilizing approximate-reasoning and decision-making methodologies of Fuzzy Logic, provides a detailed superiority-inferiority model for urban distribution networks. First, this paper chooses factors according to current running status as well as thedevelopment of distribution networks. Then, it constructs membership function curveaccording to each factor's characteristic. Moreover, it perfects the evaluation modelby considering the weight of each factor. Because the proposed method fullyincorporates experts' reasoning and decision-making process, it can significantlybenefit distribution network operators in systematic understanding of the planning, operation and control of urban distribution networks. Four current urban networks are chosen in this paper to show the applications ofutilizing approximate-reasoning and decision-making methodologies of Fuzzy Logicin superiority-inferiority evaluation for urban distribution networks. And the resultsare approximate to former evaluations.
