Hydropower-unit is the central equipment of the station. Whether it can operate stably has a direct effect on the safety in production and economic benefit of the station. Because of the special water quality, sand abrasion is a severe menace to the operate stability of the units in Xiaolangdi Hydropower Plant. In addition, some problem occurred during the operation of the units. Among them, cracking of the blades is very severe. In this paper, two factors that will threaten the operating stability were studied, which are sand abrasion and cracking of the blades. And other problems that affect the safety in production were discussed. They were included as follow:1. Anti abrasion technical measures of the turbines for the Xiaolangdi Hydropower Station are studied according to the given information. The selection for the parameters of the turbine was mainly analyzed in detail. The result shows that it can improve the anti abrasion capability to use low-lever parameters for Xiaolangdi.2. Analysis to the structure and function advantage of the ring gate adopted in the Xiaolangdi Hydropower Plant was made in the paper. The result indicate that the ring gate is adaptive for the hydropower station constructed on the silt-laden river, especially for the station working to the regulate peak value, has an advantage.3. The results of model test were analyzed. It is concluded that the performance of the model turbine is satisfying, with presspulsation on some operation point exception.4. The operation stability of Xiaolangdi power station is carefully studied. On-the-spot testing is carried out in accordance with the cracking of the blades. Further more, the result is theoretically analyzed and a solution conforming to the reality of Xiao Long Di is put forward. A real set experiment result suggests that the adopted measures are valid and workable.
