The problem of load flow and reactive power optimal of HV network is deeply researched in this paper for the need of high-level application software of power systems auto-regulation system. Combined the MATLAB and modem optimal theory, a set of reactive power optimization software based on OOP (Object Oriented Programming) is developed. The content including:(1) Combined with the powerful matrix operation function and the abundant function computation of MATLAB, a load flow program is developed. Due to the deeply research of admittance matrix, Jacobian matrix and correction matrix, this program has a great advantage at both speed and code. The methods of employing MATLAB function library in C++ environment and compiling the MATLAB files to executable files are also introduced and some valuable advice is presented about the employment of MATLAB in power system.(2) Reactive power optimal of HV network is a very complex nonlinear discrete optimal problem. To ensure the speediness, feasibility and optimality, evolution algorithm is improved by combination with interior point sequence linear optimal algorithm and expert knowledge of voltage/var adjustment. The improved algorithm is applied to the reactive power optimization and achieves distinct effect.(3) This paper independently developed a especial memory database for reactive optimal software with the Visual C++6.0 fundamental database class. The storage of data is implemented through serialize and the management of data is implemented in memory to minimize the data storage and increase the speed of read/write. All of those are foundation of acquisition and transmission of text data and graph data.(4) The graph compiler of power system single-line graph is independently developed. Employing standard modeling technique UML and multimode, presenting the concept of joint and leg to describe the relationship of graphs and realizing the auto-routing of devices except bus, the compiling of graph objects, including bus, transformer and line, is more convenient than conventional software.(5) The developed HV reactive optimal software has both text and graph input platform, and realize the network transmission of text and vector graph by a customized network protocol transform package. The software is a very practical advanced software for power system.(6) Test on the BeiBei HV network proves that the algorithm is effective and the software is reliable.
