Hydro-mechanical transient plays important role in the safety and economy of water plant. It is being focused on by hydro-electric engineers because accident always happened in the period of hydro-mechanical transient despite of its short period.The calculation model of hydro-mechanical transient in existence was deeply studied and the conclusion is that ,for Kaplan turbine and Pelton turbine ,neglecting differences of dynamic mater pressure along the turbine spiral case during transient may cause some error in the calculation of pressure rise and speed rise. The optimized model,in which water turbine is decomposed and placed along the spiral case (placed at the nozzles for Pelton turbine) ,is proposed in this paper.Transient calculation for two projects showed that the proposed optimized model are reasonable and effective.
