Generator is the most important electrical equipment in power system, whose parameter and characteristic have direct influence to generator safety operation and power system stability. How to guarantee correct measurement of generator parameter and characteristic is an important issue. Much higher requirement is advanced for the measurement of generator parameter and characteristic with the development of power system and the appearance of large capacity generator units.MSTS (multifunctional supervision & testing system for generator) has such advantages as multi-path acquisition, high computing speed, high-precision testing and suitability for on-site operation, it completely meets the needs of start-up and hand-over tests of newly installed units and electrical tests prior to release of power generation sets after overhaul. It brings substantial changes in electrical testing of generators. MSTS guarantees the accuracy of experiment results by introducing rational modes of signal lead-in and establishing scientific mathematic models. The application of MSTS eliminates such drawbacks as redundant labor force, equipments and specialists involved and much time consumed in dynamic characteristics tests. MSTS can automatically record test results and plot real-time dynamic test curves. Therefore it improves precision degree and accuracy significantly while human errors are eliminated effectively. MSTS has made it possible for test operators to use only one set of equipments to accomplish the general start-up test of generators. MSTS is easy to use because its software design meets the on-site test requirements and adopts habits and thoughts of traditional methods. The interface of MSTS is easy to understand and it meets the standards of power systems. This is consistent with the counter-accident rules.A large number of on-site tests have proved that the anti-interference design of MSTS on both mechanic and software aspect is feasible and meets the operational requirements in conditions with strong magnetic and electric fields.
