Intake port is the important part of engine, the flow characters and the design of intake port of have the vital effects on the performance of engine. The structure of intake port affects the quantity of fresh air in cylinder and the strength of swirl, so affects the degree of combustion,components of exhaust and feasible energy of exhaust, and so on. The improvement of the flow character in intake port improves the dynamic characters and economy. All this can be used to reduce the cost. Sum up, the study of intake port is significant for the design of intake port and the development of engine. At present, the study of flow characters in intake port of engine mainly depends on experiment. Numerical simulation is not universal, especially for the engine with dual-intake port. Therefore 3D static numerical simulation was applied to the JL475 engine with dual-intake port, the boundary condition of calculation was achieved through the experimental test. The main works in this paper are as follows:1. The geometry model was constructed for the intake port and cylinder of JL475 engine by means of CAD, the meshing then was applied for this geometry with the meshing tool—GAMBIT.2. After the appropriate mathematical and physical model was proposed, the numerical calculation was processed in FLUENT.3. Calculation result was treated.4. At last, calculation result was compared with experimental result, and conclusion was analyzed.The inlet valve flow coefficient was calculated basis on the result of numerical simulation when the valve at the different lifts. Compared with the experiment result, the validation of turbulent model and calculation method was proved, so utilizing CFD to calculate inlet valve flow coefficient is feasible. The method of numerical simulation may used to improve the design of intake port, reduce the design time and design expense. At the same time, this article has the important science meaning and engineering application value.
