With the rapid development of economy building in China,high class highway is moving from the East to the West and from plane to mountain areas.As deep digging and high filling,settlement calculation of high subgrade has been gradually becoming a key problem in the building of high class highway in mountain areas.Recently, the methods of settlement calculation based on many soil models have been widely applied and researched on engineering,but there is not a perfect theory or arithmetic for settlement calculation of high subgrade in the world.On the basis of the experiment in ZAIREN second class highway in Guang Xi and the production about settlement in airport and dam engineering,settlement of high subgrade in and after construction will be researched more deeply.In the article,according to the production of others and combining theory analysis with engineering practice,the primary results are enumerated as follows: (1) By analyzing and summarizing many methods of settlement calculation erenow,an improved D-P elasto-plastic model about high subgrade will be brought forward and used to calculate settlement with finite element method. Comparing the values by calculating with them by tests, more approving results are obtained. (2) Considering a lot of stochastic factors,a grey system model will be put forward and set up unequal interval GM(1,1) model by residual error to predict settlement of high subgrade and a calculational program corresponding to it will be compiled, (3) Bearing capacity of soil is discussed deeply with close correlative settlement,and a new analyzing and calculating method is suggested with the effect of Poisson'ratio in the article. (4) By analyzing and discussing settlement after construction of fillings in the article,it is show that stone is prior to soil to fill high embankment.
