The requirement for automobile has been rapidly increased with the improvement of the people's standard of living. Automobile industry has become the pillar industry of national economy in some developed countries such as United States of America and Japan. The automobile industry will become the pillar industry of national economy in our country in the near future. The enormous demand for automobile leads to higher performance requirement. The design of automobile suspensions must meet with the demand of driving smoothness and control stability. The driving smoothness and control stability conflict with each other, considering the demand of automobile suspensions. Domestic automobile can't overcome the above-mentioned conflict because domestic automobile adopt traditional passive suspensions. Automobile engineering community at home and abroad has attached importance to semi-active suspensions because they are cheap and excellent performance. Semi-active suspensions have not been really popularized because reliable and cheap damper are short and there are some difficulties with damp control. So it is necessary to research the structure of semi-active suspensions and their control to provide theory foundation for domestic semi-active suspension research and development and scheme lectotype and finally select a cheap and really reliable damper that will be used to automobile to enhance automobile performance. In this thesis, the primary study as follows: The thesis research thedevelopment situation of automobile suspension damper at home and abroad and select Electrorheological Fluid intelligent damper to serve as suspension structure's vibration damping damper; The thesis study the ER basic characteristic and the ER intelligent damper's principle of work and put forward the design method of high-damp and large-range adjustable multiple channel electric current damper.; The thesis study some ER damper that adopt the semi-active control and use computer simulations to compare the passive suspension structure and ER semi-active suspension. Computer simulations indicate that ER semi-active suspension have greatly improved driving smoothness and control stability and automobile performance have been greatly improved. The performance improvement of semi-active suspension is as much as active suspension. At the same time semi-active suspension is of simple structure and low cost. So in the long run, the semi-active suspensions may have wider application.
