Image motion compensation(IMC) is often used in aerial cameras to improve the quality of imaging. The simplified formula of Image motion velocity(IMV) is usually introduced in engineering. The formula ignores the effect of aircraft's initial rotational angle, which will necessarily bring on the error of IMC.Combined with the reseaching panoramic aerial camera with TDI CCD,the paper deduced the formula of IMV with two methods. One is coordinate system transformation method, the other is orthogonal projective analytic method.Using coordinate transformation method ,the formula of IMV on every point of image plane was deduced ,and it included almost all motorial factors: the flight velocity of aircraft, roll, pitch ,yaw, camera's scan and so on.thus,it is a precise formula, and it is also applied to frame cameras and push_room cameras with array CCD.Using orthogonal projective analytic method, the simplified formula of IMV was deduced, ignoring the effect of aircraft's initial rotational angle, presuming the angle is zero. The simplified formula of IMV is easily achieved in engineering. But it will bring on the error of IMC,when the angles is nonzero. The paper quantitatively analysed the error with an example, and pointed out the effect of this error. The paper studied actual method of IMC about panoramic aerial camera ,and put forward a true_angle IMC method in scanning orientation. The true_angle IMC is independent of scanning velocity, and the demand of drum control system's rotational velocity's precision is reduced. At last, through experiments, the true_angle IMC was validated...
