High Performance Concrete (HPC) is now a hotspot in concrete research field in the worldwide. Its expected design target is durability and it aims at meeting the different requests of different projects, such as workability, applicability, strength, volume stability and economy. Because of its many excellent advantages, HPC has come to be used in a wide range. But the existed projects show it's weakness, such as the brittleness and the tendency to early age cracking of HPC is more serious and sensitive than Ordinary Performance Concrete (OPC).From this point, expensive admixture is a good way to solve the cracks of HPC. But some problems have been found when expensive admixture is used in HPC. The HPC with expensive agent is still cracking. This is due to lacking of knowing the mechanism and using conditions of expensive admixture , and incorrect choice, use and construction of expensive admixture under new conditions.In order to research the effectiveness of expensive admixture in HPC, this paper discusses the influence of water-binder ratio changing, quantity of expensive admixture changing, adding of mineral admixture, temperature rise, curing conditions and restrained level to the expensive admixture effectiveness. The results of experiments and researches have very important meaning in supplying the gap of research and advancing the general application of HPC.
