In this thesis, a Diesel/Alcohol dual fuel injection experimental system controlled by PC is introduced firstly. This system is developed based on the current research and the advanced technology of hardware and virtual instrument. This system captures the rack position signal and rotate speed signal of the fuel injection pump, and calculates the circulating fuel injection quantity by programming the computer. Then the computer is programmed to control the DAQ board to generate a certain width pulse. Finally, controlled by the pulse, the alcohol injection system injects a certain quantity alcohol into inlet manifold according to a setting diesel/alcohol proportion. The workability and reliability of this system has been proved by experiment in this thesis. This thesis also introduces a dual fuel experiment on the TY295D diesel using the Diesel/alcohol dual fuel injection experimental system. The experiment shows that the method of alcohol supply used in the experimental system has little influence on power and torque of the diesel engine. The experiment also shows that energy consumption and soot emission of the diesel engine is improved at various diesel/alcohol proportions. The maximal improve ratio of energy consumption is about 15% and soot emission is about 80%, respectively. Under different rev and loads, the optimal diesel/alcohol proportion would be different. In order to find out the change rule of optimal diesel/alcohol proportion, an orthogonal regression rotating experiment of three factors (rev, diesel/alcohol proportion and load) at five levels has been carried out. Based on the experiment, four regression equations including energy consumption, soot emission, noise level, and power equations concerning the three factors have been established. These regression equations prove to be reliable. Depending on these four regression equations, the optimal diesel/alcohol proportions under different work conditions of engine have been found by optimizing analyze. And by using the method of orthogonal polynomial regression, a regression equation of optimal diesel/alcohol proportion concerning rev and load has been established. To a certain extent, this equation proves to be reliable and can be reference in the later researches.
