Analysis Of Balance Of Supply And Demand Of Water Resources In The Lower Reaches Of Shiyand River

In this paper, the quality, quantity, and distribution conditions of water resources in Minqin county have been assessed in terms of site investigation and collection of data. According to the formation background of water resources , the main reason of enlarged desert areas results from reduction of water resources. It is also said that the water amount of Shiyang river is unceasingly decreasing when it flow into Minqin basin because of overuse of water resources in middle basin of Shiyang river. For example , the growth of population in the whole river basin, the expansion of cultivated field area in upper and middle reaches of the river. Because of the increasing of sum amount of utilizable water, there is moving up of center area where water is used enlarged amount in irrigated areas. Another problem is no idea about sustainable development in human consciousness, some action that is eager for quick success and instant benefit in economical activities.In this paper , the author carry out a series of analysis and expounding and proving in the following aspect: 1) The water amount of Shiyang river is decreasing when it flow into Minqin reaches. 2) The exchange between surface water and groundwater is active. 3) There is also serious problem utilized water in ecology. In this passage, author has studied the quota of irrigation that can make water used economically for various plants, if the irrigation quota can be lowered from 6795 m3/a to 4500 m3/a during the processes of irrigation, there will be a saving water amount of 3.386million m3/a, in Shiyang river basin. there is no doubt that we can open the second source of river water that canprovide the possibility of transporting 300 million m3/a water amount to lower reaches of the river. In this paper, there are some analysis and prospects for the future situation of supply and demand of water resources in 2010. According to the characters of water resources and the problems that have occurred in development and utilization process in Minqin. The author provides several suggestions and measure of solving the crisis of water resource and protecting the oasis, and also provides the basis of making decision for development and utilization of water resources in Minqin in the future.
