The simulation technology of visualization is a new computer application technology which has developed in recent years. In the fields such as mobile, aircraft ,etc, it is used widely. Some experts and scholars started to research the application of visualization simulation system in the water resources field. In such a background, this paper investigated the visualization simulation system which is applied to simulate the transient process of the water conveyance system in the hydropower station.First, the technology of the visualization simulation system, including the visualization technology, computer simulation technology, component programming technology and database technology, are introduced.Second, this paper expounded the analysis of the universal model by means of the OpenGL 3D graphics standard. The whole model of a real hydropower station was also provided by this system. On the base of the whole model structure, it realized the dynamic display of the transient fluid parameters in the conduit according to data available.Finally, this paper applies the computational method of the unsteady flow in the hydropower station and a simulation case was given. The results show that the engineering problems can be solved effectively by this system.
