| Based on fractal geometry, modification of the elastic-plastic contact model and wear prediction model of the rough surfaces is developed by this paper.Firstly, this paper studies M-B elastic-plastic contact model, which was developed by Majumdar and Bhushan in 1991. Then, it quotes the ideal, that the transiton from the elastic to fully plastic behavior of microcontacts is not abrupt, which was developed by Wang and Komvopoulos in 1994. So the elastic, elastoplastic, and fully plastic regimes are demarcated by two, rather than one, parameters. Lastly, it modifies the M-B contact model and the wear prediction model of the rough surfaces.Furthermore, elastic-plastic contact model for bifractal surfaces is conceived. Finally, CAD simulation shows that the forecasts of the modified models coincide with experimental data preferably. Predicted by the modified models, the values of actual contact area and optical fractal dimension of wear process are all less than these predicted by the original models. The results of the research have high practicality value in tribology and CAD/CAM. |
