Combined with the joints of golden tree in the ShenZhen cultural center, the paper makes theoretically research and calculator on the huge welded hollow sphere joints of complex special steel structure, (diameter:!. 1-3.0 meter, thickness:22mm~32mm). Hitherto, there are no such huge connectors in the world. Our national executive code, "Design and Construction Code of lattice framed structures" , can only be applied to the hollow joints whose diameter is less than SOOmmm, not suitable for such huge joints. The paper brings forward the way to estimate the diameter and the thickness of the super large diameter welded hollow spherical joint.After the comparison of the five choice projects (cast steel joints, hollow cast steel joints, half hollow cast steel joints, wielded hollow joints, welded hollow joints-ball inside) in economics and practicability, the paper suggests the wielded hollow sphere joints. The strength and stability analysis of the golden tree according to the five load cases has been made. From the choice of material to the construction, type and parameter of the ball joins, all these have been taken into consideration on the welded hollow-sphere joints. The selected joints' mechanics and deformation performance have been analyzed, using the ANSYS. According to the actuality of the project, the construction technique has been detailed out.As a result of the analysis, welded hollow sphere joint has good mechanics performance and high safety under the design load. Furthermore, welded hollow sphere joint is mature in technique , easy to construct, and cost-efficient.Temperature stress is the next to be studied. Experimental research on large welded hollow spherical joints should be added.
